I blame the longer time until the draft for this. I've thought Manziel had a fighting shot to be a good QB but I think he's going to be more exciting than he will be a great QB. But now...I'm starting to think he could be as good as Romo (no jokes). So the draft needs to happen. I've said about other QB's the stuff they do in college they can't do in the pros and I've been proven somewhat wrong. The problem is Manziel is more of an improviser and I'm not sure there's too much room in the NFL for that.

Instincts are great, but he's got to hit an open WR when he's open and not dodge out of the pocket.

Anon2, I try not to be jaded but it's hard. It does seem like there are agendas in play. We have smart people saying stupid shit. Mayock's comments blew my mind. He is considered a film guy and Bridgewater's film seems pretty good to me and other draft scouts I follow on Twitter.

I think I would rather have Griffin, though talk to me in a few years. The Rams definitively got a good haul, but there is still time to judge the trade based on what picks the Rams end up choosing. Have no doubt, Peter will sum up that Redskins-Rams trade. No doubt about that. I'm guessing he'll have the Rams as the winner.
Bengoodfellahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09401971573776672570noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-102327997051254703.post-11022489190137400672014-05-02T08:19:21.562-04:002014-05-02T08:19:21.562-04:00See, I'm starting to come around a little bit ...See, I'm starting to come around a little bit on Manziel. I don't hardly trust anyone's intentions anymore. If ESPN can force Ron Jaworski, another film nut, to make ridiculous comments, then I figure it can happen to anyone.

I just wanted to make one other point, which is that people tend to say now that the Rams came away with a heist in the Robert Griffin deal, and I'm not sure I agree. They got a fantastic haul, no question about it, but at the end of the day, the Redskins have Griffin as their QB and the Rams have Bradford as their QB. You tell me which you'd rather have for the next 10 years.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-102327997051254703.post-27673086494169664572014-05-01T15:04:01.180-04:002014-05-01T15:04:01.180-04:00At worst, manziel is the next ryan leaf. I know I say that ...Anon, that's a great point. I know I say that a lot. But that is actually a great point. The scripted workout is anything but live. No defense, no different play calls, no unexpected events that would occur.

You really think NFLN would set it up that way? He's not the only one who has been down on Bridgewater, so that's what makes me think it's possible Mayock really believes his comments. I chalk it up to scouts having too much time to over-analyze a player and getting brain freeze.

I really would hope his comments aren't part of some agenda NFLN has because that's bullshit. Bengoodfellahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09401971573776672570noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-102327997051254703.post-17513031279094133322014-05-01T12:09:49.199-04:002014-05-01T12:09:49.199-04:00Ben, I don't know what to think exactly, but I...Ben, I don't know what to think exactly, but I am suspicious because it's so un-Mayock-like. Especially the part about "because this was live." Actually it was a scripted workout, the opposite of live. You know what was live? All of those collegiate starts Bridgewater made.

Mayock spends his life watching tape, I can't believe he would change his opinion on someone simply because of a workout. I have no proof that these aren't his true feelings, but knowing how these networks work, it wouldn't surprise me if they're trying to set it up so Mayock has controversial things to say about Bridgewater during the draft. Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-102327997051254703.post-56872656483998106762014-05-01T08:09:44.581-04:002014-05-01T08:09:44.581-04:00Anon, right? I don't always agree with Mayock ...Anon, right? I don't always agree with Mayock but he seems to be pretty smart and makes his evaluations as he sees them without being overly concerned with being controversial. But this take...it's like he's ignoring all of the tape that he admits makes Bridgewater look good and only focuses on the Pro Day. Very odd.

You think they made him say something controversial like this? I have to say, the first time I saw Bridgewater play as a freshman I was just very impressed with him. Watching him since then hasn't changed his mind. His frame is skinny but he is a smart quarterback who seems to run the offense well and make good decisions.

I would take him as the first QB in a heartbeat. Mike Mayock knows better than this, I'm quite suspicious about whether these are his true feelings.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-102327997051254703.post-45631016249341695702014-04-30T16:55:43.082-04:002014-04-30T16:55:43.082-04:00Eric, yeah but...but they all cheer for the Saints...Eric, yeah but...but they all cheer for the Saints.
